We had 9 participants at the ranch for classroom learning, hands-on training and live fire shooting. Despite rainy, cold weather everyone did well and (hopefully) had fun! Everyone was safe, passed their written and practical tests, and left with certificates in hand for obtaining their concealed carry permits.

HAVE A PLAN
Be Flexible.
You may have to change or adapt your plan as circumstances change. Do what you have to in order to stay safe as the situation unfolds.
Be Proactive.
Look and analyze before doing something that could put you and your horse at risk or in in danger. Try to avoid and eliminate unsafe behavior before it is too late.
Listen to your intuition.
Practice good situational awareness and trust your instincts.
Do not hesitate to act if a situation makes you uncomfortable or becomes dangerous.
Your safety comes first.
Your safety and the safety of your horse come first, other people's feeling come second.
Createdistance and escape.
Remember, your goal is to escape and survive. Do whatever is necessary to remove you and your horse from the danger.
Consider your Defense options:
Verbalizing, posturing, moving away, attracting attention, running, fighting, using a personal protection device, or complying (perhaps only temporarily until you are in a more advantageous position to get away).
