Kiowa arrived at Deseos Arabians for training on September 11, 2011 and will stay until mid-October 2011. She is doing well so far. Kiowa is well behaved for general handling and feeding, she gets along well with other horses and integrates well when turned out. At night she stays in a run next to another horses, she is easy to approach and halter, good about being groomed and tacked up. Kiowa has been ridden while here at the walk and trot both English and Western. She had been trained under saddle in the past and at that time was subjected to physical and mental abuse. She is very sensitive and due to past abusive treatment will "shut down" when aids are escalated. Kiowa moves out nicely under saddle but stops when she becomes nervous or uncomfortable. Time and patience must be used to get her going again, using bigger aids or any type of force is NOT effective, she will shut down completely.  Kiowa does really well when following another horse, this helps with her insecurity. Kiowa would like a person with love and kindness to give who is gentle and patient in order to allow Kiowa the time to trust. Once she trusts a person Kiowa blossoms into an affectionate and willing partner.

Her adoption package includes her own halter and lead rope, grooming kit, microchip implant, and 3 complimentary riding lessons/training sessions from Deseos Arabians for Kiowa and her adopter.
