Deseos Arabians & Miniatures LLC - Classical Training for the Recreational Rider
RRHR Josie
(ADOPTED)
Congratulations to Tanya from the Ft. Collins area on her adoption of wonderful Josie!

An all around sweet horse who is happy to spend time with humans and would like one of her very own! No vices, no bad habits, doing GREAT under saddle. Josie can negotiate obstacles, carry a rider at the walk and trot, turn, halt, circle, and stands excellent for mounting. Good about grooming, being caught, haltered, bridled, saddled, and standing tied. She accepts both english and western saddles and is being ridden in a pelham bridle with mullen barrel bit. Nothing bad to say about her, she is just young and inexperienced. Josie has been ridden by one of our students as well as two potential adopters. She is wonderful about safely carrying riders, even beginners as long as they are under the direction of a riding instructor. Josie requires direction and guidance from an experienced rider or trainer.  A+

Josie is a 10 year old registered Quarter Horse mare relinquished to Ruby Ranch Horse Rescue by her owner who is battling a terminal illness. Josie has been well cared for all her life and had some limited ground work and had been introduce to a saddle before coming her but had never been trained for riding. She arrived at Deseos Arabians on July 10, 2011 to stay for one month of training. Josie is mellow, easy going, loves human affection, tries hard, is not spooky, likes the attention she gets during training, and is easy to care for.

Josie is being given basic training in basic balanced seat equitation both english and western. She is being taught subtle cues for walk, trot, turning, circling, halting, and backing up which are communicated through the rider's Focus, Voice, Seat, Leg, and Rein cues in that order. Josie is being transitioned from a rope side pull halter to a bit. We are using a Myler Comfort Snaffle with mullen barrel when riding western and a mullen mouth pelham when riding her english. Josie's training is going smoothly and normally. There are no training issues, no behavioral problems, she is just a nice, calm, easy horse to train. She just requires guidence and direction to know what to do and lots of saddle time with an experienced rider/trainer to gain experience. She may also be suitable for a less experienced person as long as they are under the supervision of a trainer on the ground. Josie is not spooky, has not offered to buck or rear, and has a really nice all around even temperment.

Josie's adopter will receive 3 FREE riding lessons/training sessions from Deseos Arabians to help make her transition to her new human go smoothly and ensure the relationship gets off to a good start. Josie also goes to her new adopter with a halter, lead, grooming kit, and microchip implant.
